Winter is here with a vengeance but with rain, wind and temps in the low 50's and high 40's, there is always a bright side! We are staying in a lot and working hard. So many applications for missionary service here in the Pacific Area. The Pacific Islands produce a huge number of missionaries and they serve faithfully wherever they are called! Of course with the winter comes sniffles and flu, so Elder Brown is kept busy giving advice to the wives of Mission Presidents on their sick missionaries.
As of July 1st we have 6 new Mission Presidents, including here in Auckland.
President and Sister Balli are delightful and we are looking forward to getting to know them better!
Just a few highlights of the past few weeks:
There is a great burger place not far from our office called "Burger Fuel"
and their burgers are so big and juicy that they have "doofers" available...I am still chuckling over the name! They are cardboard containers that fold around the burger...making an attempt to keep the juice out of your lap!
This is a sculpture! Looks like a cardboard box with birds in it.
It is a metal "box" with three kiwi birds in it next to a bench along the street in downtown Auckland...so whimsical!
Yes, it is indeed winter here and we are getting lots of rain! But with the rain we also get some amazing rainbows!! Just have to look out the window! Seems to me there is a life lesson here!
Feeding the missionaries is an ongoing joy. This Sunday we had (from left) Elder Talamaivao, Elder Hill, Elder Brown, Elder Sweeten and Elder Cluff all eating Taco Salad in our tiny dining area!
On July 5th, we celebrated Independence Day (actually was the 4th in the USA) I did the decorations and everyone brought food. We had a great time! Had to look high and low to find anything with red white and blue on it!
This picture is for my sister June! She and her husband are serving a mission in Charleston, West Virginia. Sister Dougall, next to me and her husband served in Washington DC with June and Rod as they all served together in the archives! So now Sister Dougall is getting the second sister!!
Missing a few couples that could not make it, but this is the majority of the 16 couples that we serve with. Love them all!!!
